Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled technical nursing care to patients according to predefined standards and a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse or Physician. The role also involves additional duties as assigned and adheres to the MS Nurse Practice Act, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and the Singing River Health System nursing plan for care provision.
Shift- Monday - Thursday (7:30am - 5:30pm)
- Tuesday - Friday (7:30am - 5:30pm)
- Alternating Monday and Friday off with NP

Responsibility Highlights- Deliver skilled technical nursing care in alignment with RN or Physician plans.
- Maintain adherence to state licensure and institutional policies.
- Demonstrate compliance with the Corporate Compliance Program and uphold the hospital’s mission of world‑class healthcare and wellness.
Current unrestricted Mississippi State licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Education & Certifications- Graduate from an approved school of practical nursing.
- Maintain Mississippi Board of Nursing licensure for practice in the expanded role.
- BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Complete de‑escalation training within 90 days of orientation (or appropriate level).
Appropriate nursing practice or experience within the past three (3) years.
Reports ToPractice Manager, under the direction of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or LPN responsible for patient care management.
Physical Demands- Moderately active care activities requiring sitting, frequent movement, and occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of objects, including patient bodies.
- Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues with associated infectious disease risk.
- Repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and fingers while operating computer equipment.
- Good visual acuity and the ability to focus on close and distant objects, such as computer monitors and printed material.
- Capacity to work extended periods without undue fatigue and to adapt to schedule changes as necessary.
- Strong assessment, decision‑making, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including telephone and in‑person interactions.
- Resilience under high stress, with the ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure.
- Attention to detail and multitasking within complex clinical settings.
- Collaborative relationship building across SRHS and external organizations.
- Superior customer‑service orientation and professional etiquette.
- Proficiency in computer use (keyboard, MS Outlook, Word, Excel) and other office technology.
- Clinical judgment and professional skills applicable to patients of all ages.
