Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients, collaborating to formulate treatment plans, prescribing medications, ordering and interpreting laboratory results, providing patient education, preparing medical records, and referring patients in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans’ Mission, policies and procedures, and Performance Improvement Standards.

• Diagnosing, conducting, and prescribing medications for patients.
• Providing emergency services, physician, and psycho‑social examinations of patients, if applicable.
• Developing appropriate treatment plans and providing effective management of patient care with proper evaluation.
• Consulting with patients and families having multiple and complex disorders, and working in a collaborative and integrative role with primary healthcare providers.
• Performing invasive procedures.
• Educating patients on positive health‑promoting lifestyle choices and disease, injury and illness prevention.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

• Must have a master’s degree in nursing.
• Current RN License in the state where practicing, and certification to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the state where practicing.
• The Nurse Practitioner must possess the necessary licensure corresponding to their specialized practice area.

• Must be flexible with work schedule. Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits.
• This position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice.
• Should demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems, utilize appropriate steps for problem resolution, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, and exercise sound judgment.
• Must be competent in interpersonal communications, excellent verbal and written skills, knowledge of Medicare and regulatory and credentialing criteria standards, safety standards, spread of organisms, and the adult learning process.
• Must be competent in the provision of nursing care.
• Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de‑escalation program.

Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high‑paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically to the atmosphere. The work requires spending approximately 90% or more of the time inside a building that offers protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
