George Regional Health & Rehab is seeking a dedicated and motivated Staff Development Nurse to support the education, training, and professional development of nursing staff. This position may be filled by a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The Staff Development Nurse is responsible for coordinating orientation programs, conducting in-service education, maintaining training records, and supporting competency development to ensure quality resident care and regulatory compliance.
The role also oversees the Nurse Aide Training Program and serves as a resource for staff education and development.
- Coordinate and conduct orientation for new nursing employees
- Assess educational needs and develop ongoing staff training programs
- Plan and implement in-service education and competency validation programs
- Maintain staff education records and training documentation
- Assist with infection control, safety, disaster preparedness, and regulatory education initiatives
- Participate in the development and oversight of student affiliate and volunteer programs
- Assist with the Nurse Aide Training Program in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Interview and assist with the hiring and training of nurse aide candidates
- Assist with completion of MDS documentation as assigned
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to support quality improvement and staff development initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing
- Current Mississippi RN or LPN license required
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum of one year of long-term care experience required
- Experience in staff education, training, or leadership preferred
- Must complete the Train-the-Trainer Program (or be willing to obtain)
- Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, and long-term care regulations
- Strong communication, teaching, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to work with staff across all shifts and departments
