Position SummaryThe Operations Assistant (OA) is a paraprofessional position that is responsible for serving residential students individually and in groups. The OA’s primary role is to support the daily needs of residents and promote the social and safety needs of the community. Within this position, OAs engage in critical thinking and problem-solving to address individual and community needs, and to provide support to residents.
To provide this support, OAs serve hours at the desks and within the community spaces to provide evening and overnight response to resident needs and to address behavioral, safety, or facilities concerns that may occur.

Anticipated Weekly HoursThe OA position is a 15-20 hour per week position, paid hourly. OAs may fulfill additional hours during training periods and various high need times of the year.
Required Job Qualifications- Must have 15 or more in process or completed credit hours at time of application.
- Be fully enrolled at CSU and working toward graduation; for each semester of employment and maintain good academic standing with the University, a minimum semester cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
- No current or pending disciplinary incidents- prior incidents are not an automatic disqualification, but all prior cases must be disclosed at time of application and hire.
- Available to attend bi-weekly staff meetings on when Fall and Spring term classes are in session; OAs are expected to work their academic and personal schedule around this meeting time.
- Eligible to work in the U.S. up to 20 hours per week.
- 2.5 GPA or higher for undergraduate students
- One of more semesters of experience living in the residence halls before starting work in this position
- Demonstrated skill in fostering respectful and collaborative interactions with others
- Availability to work overnight and/or weekend hours in a residential community
Job Duties
- Communicate in a timely manner with supervisors and HDS staff
- Remain present and alert at the community desk to support daily and nightly operations and serve resident needs.
- Complete walk-throughs of the community during night operations to ensure the continued safe operation of the community. Respond to and report emergencies, serving as an initial responder who refers those emergencies to trained professional staff and/or emergency services.
- Support large scale administrative operations such as move-in and move-out, room/apartment checks, safety inspections, etc.
- Participate in regularly scheduled meetings and trainings with supervisor and staff.
