Position: Dentist 2
Location: City of Binghamton

Human Resources Specialist at NEW YORK STATE OPWDD

Pay Range: $/yr – $/yr.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct examinations of patients using x‑rays, mouth mirrors, and other diagnostic instruments to identify dental conditions.
  • Diagnose and treat dental diseases, injuries, and malformations.
  • Perform restorative procedures for simple and compound cavities.
  • Administer anesthetics, perform extractions, and conduct oral surgery within scope of practice.
  • Clean teeth by scaling calculus and treat infections with appropriate drugs or surgery.
  • Maintain written records of patient treatments.
  • Advise patients on dental health practices.
  • Supervise and direct paraprofessional staff; provide training and instruction.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the dental department; arrange service training for staff.
  • Utilize MIPS stabilizations when treating patients with challenging behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active license and registration to practice dentistry in New York State.
  • One year of experience as a Dentist 1 for promotion; for open‑competitive, three years full‑time post‑licensure experience, including at least one year supervisory.
  • Transfer applicants must have permanent competitive status and be eligible for lateral transfer.
  • Certification or willingness to obtain certification in Dental Enteral Conscious Sedation.
