Job DescriptionAs part of the strategic plan for expanding biomedical and health science research in emerging fields, the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Watson College, Binghamton University (BU), State University of New York (SUNY), invites applications for one tenured faculty position at the full Professor level with an expected start date of September 1, 2026.
We are seeking a well-established biomedical engineer who has an outstanding track record in funding, scholarship, teaching, and service. We seek applications from candidates in all areas of biomedical engineering; however, we are particularly interested in the following areas: AI/Data Science/Controls in Biomedical Engineering/Biomanufacturing (brain-computer interface, computer vision, machine learning, digital pathology, biomedical big data, cell/tissue/organ atlas, biomechatronics, AI-empowered cell biomanufacturing and tissue biofabrication, etc.).
Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness are preferred.
- Developing and implementing a robust plan that synergizes and accelerates our strategic research partnerships with Upstate Medical University and the CBRM.
- Augmenting existing capabilities and expertise in AI, data science, and controls in Biomedical Engineering and Biomanufacturing at Binghamton University and Upstate Medical University, building on ongoing research at both campuses, and further strengthening and growing cross-institutional collaborations.
- Making significant contributions to Binghamton University's new Institute for AI and Society.

Required Qualifications
- PhD degree in biomedical engineering or a closely related discipline
- Proven research leadership
- Record of scholarship as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and citations
- Successful record of securing external funding
- Experience as an effective educator and research mentor
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in AI/Data Science/Controls in Biomedical Engineering/Biomanufacturing
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness
