Title:

Postdoctoral Associate (SL-1)

Salary: $60,000 (full-time, temporary)

The History Department at Binghamton University (SUNY) invites applications for the Turovsky/Casey Family Post-Doctoral Fellow in Latin American History. This is a temporary fellowship, up to two years. We seek a historian of Latin America who considers spatial dimensions in their work, such as digital mapping, the history of map making, migration, urban history, and/or borders. Candidates may specialize in any time period and or region(s) within Latin America.

The fellow will be fully integrated into the intellectual and social life of the department. The position is a 12-month appointment with an annual salary of $60,000, with a New York State comprehensive benefits package.

In addition to conducting independent research, the fellow will co-organize and lead a credit-bearing workshop series that will include graduate students and faculty from within and beyond our university. The fellow will also co-organize a symposium.

Additional teaching opportunities could be available but are not required.

Position is intended to begin in Fall 2026, but could start in January 2027 if necessary.

Requirements:

* A doctoral degree in History or a relevant field prior to the appointment

* An active research project in Latin America related to spatial history
