Special Education​/Biology Teacher - Virtual Learning Academy

10 month position

1 open position commencing September 2026

We are seeking a dual‑certified (Special Education 7‑12 and Biology) teacher to provide instruction and student support within the BT BOCES Virtual Learning Academy 12:1+1 program.

Key responsibilities include:

• Teach courses within the VLA 12:1+1 program
• Provide Direct Consultant Teacher services to students within the broader VLA classroom setting
• Design, implement, and monitor IEP goals in alignment with student needs.
• Use evidence‑based instructional strategies, including differentiation, to meet diverse learning needs.
• Create a structured and supportive virtual learning environment that maximizes student success.
• Engage in ongoing collaboration with the Student Success Team and general education teachers.
• Support students in meeting high academic and behavioral expectations.
• Complete all required documentation in accordance with NYS regulations and school policies.

• Must have NYS Certification as a Special Education Teacher: SWD 7‑12 Generalist or SWD K‑12.
• Must have NYS Certification in Biology 7‑12.
• Strong collaboration skills.
• A commitment to meeting the needs of every student.
• A strong belief that all students can succeed.
• Effective use of instructional technology to support virtual learners.
