Postdoctoral Associate (SL-1)

Salary: $80,000 (full-time, temporary)

The Department of Teaching, Learning & Educational Leadership is part of Binghamton University's College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA). CCPA is composed of five departments:
Human Development, Public Administration and Policy, Social Work, Higher Education and Student Affairs, and Teaching, Learning, and Educational Leadership, as well as an interdisciplinary doctoral program in Community Research and Action, all of which prepare students for community-building professions.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, creative team of cutting-edge scholars and educators, who are committed to preparing students to be well grounded in research-informed discipline-based, culturally responsive teaching practices, as well supporting students to understand the teaching and learning process as embedded within the social, cultural, historical, and familial assets of the communities in which they teach. The typical teaching load is two courses per semester.

Courses may be at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate must have a clear research trajectory and be able to demonstrate a commitment to a high-quality research agenda in support of marginalized populations. The Department of Teaching, Learning & Educational Leadership at Binghamton University, State University of New York, invites applications for a two-year Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Growth Plus (PRODiG+) Postdoctoral Fellowship, focused on research in TESOL teacher education in K-12 settings. The SUNY PRODiG+ is designed with two primary goals: (1) increase the number of outstanding, diverse faculty committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, and (2) strengthen the pathway for their long-term retention and success.

We seek a scholar with a strong research background in Multilingual Learners/Emergent Bilingual Learners, their teachers, and their educational pathways in K-12 contexts. The ideal candidate is an engaged teacher educator who bridges theory and practice through an active, impactful research agenda. In addition to expertise in TESOL, we are especially interested in candidates with complementary specialization in Literacy Education.

The fellowship is a 12-month appointment for two years, beginning in Fall 2026, with the goal of conversion to a tenure-track assistant professorship at its conclusion. The fellowship has a teaching load of 1
-2 per academic year (fall-spring semesters) and the fellow's affiliation will be in the TESOL K-12 program. The PRODIG+ program comes with a highly competitive compensation package (salary $80,000). This position is an in-person position. A remote appointment is not an option.

Requirements:

* Doctoral degree in TESOL, Bilingual Education, or a closely related field conferred by July 1, 2026

* Research specialization in TESOL and/or Bilingual Education in U.S. public schools

* Teaching experience in K-12 schools in the United States or Canada

* Additional expertise in K-12 literacy education
