Title:

Senior Staff Assistant (SL‑3)

Strategic Prevention & Health Promotion

  • Program Strategy:
    Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive, evidence‑based prevention roadmap targeting substance misuse and problem gambling.
  • Campus Outreach & Campaigns:
    Design and execute university‑wide awareness campaigns, wellness events, and culturally responsive educational programming for students and staff.
  • Targeted Marketing:
    Partner with Student Affairs Communications to deliver population‑level public health and risk‑reduction messaging across campus media platforms.
  • Data‑Driven Insights:
    Analyze student behavioral data and campus trends to adapt, innovate, and guide future prevention methodologies.

Harm Reduction & Student Support

  • Clinical Best Practices:
    Advance harm reduction models, administer brief interventions, and utilize motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Screening Interventions:
    Manage evidence‑based screening initiatives, including BASICS and eCHECKUP TO GO.
  • Crisis Prevention:
    Direct overdose response education and oversee campus naloxone training and distribution.
  • Campus Collaborations:
    Partner with Student Conduct to provide educational interventions for policy violations, and collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Athletics, Residence Life) and local community health agencies.
  • Recovery Advocacy:
    Support the Tobacco‑ and Smoke‑Free Campus Initiative and champion a welcoming, supportive climate for students in recovery.

Leadership, Training, & Administration

  • Program Coordination:
    Assist with the coordination and implementation of the Healthy Campus Peer Agent Internship course, focusing on leadership, training, and administration.
  • Staff Supervision:
    Mentor, supervise, and evaluate graduate assistants, peer educators, and student workers within wellness coalitions.
  • Professional Development:
    Train student leaders, faculty, and staff on harm reduction, substance awareness, and recovery support.
  • Compliance Management:
    Serve as the primary administrator for DFSCA mandates, compiling the Biennial Review Report and coordinating mandatory Annual Notifications.
  • Operational Evaluation:
    Manage compliance tracking systems for student educational modules and leverage data analytics to present progress reports to university executives.
  • Resource & Financial Management:
    Manage the program budget, oversee the efficient allocation of funds for educational materials and event logistics, and maintain high‑quality digital and print health resources that are accessible to students of all abilities and language backgrounds.
