Assistant Debate Coach (ADC) – Binghamton University

Binghamton University is looking to hire an Assistant Debate Coach (ADC) to help run the policy debate team and assist in its further development. The debate program has consistently been ranked as one of the top ten debate programs in the nation and has qualified teams to the National Debate Tournament. The team travels to regional and national tournaments and has students competing on the Varsity, JV, and Novice levels.

Responsibilities
  • Run squad meetings and coordinate research assignments.
  • Work with individual partners, scout opponents, and judge debates.
  • Drive and manage travel for 5–7 weekends a semester.
  • Prepare the team for competitive success throughout the year.
  • Coordinate additional coaching assignments for assistant coaches and varsity team members.
  • Help set the travel schedule and partnerships to maximize squad goals.
  • Teach one course a semester at the discretion of the Director of Speech and Debate, in exchange for a lightened coaching load.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • Experience coaching or competing in Cross‑Examination Debate Association and National Debate Tournament sanctioned debate.
  • Demonstrated national and regional success.
  • Valid/clean driver’s license.
Preferred
  • Master’s Degree or higher.
  • Experience working across all levels of debate.
  • Experience coordinating travel.
  • Demonstrated success with larger squads.
