Title:
Staff Assistant (SL-2)
Residential Life (RL) serves the needs of 7,800+ residents through a system of six residential colleges. We strive to support the academic mission of the University by providing residents with a living-learning experience through our collegiate structure. We provide a small school residential experience within a premier public university. Our dedicated staff and faculty educators engage with students in building strong communities that empower personal development and academic success. Our six diverse residential areas offer Bearcats a home away from home that supports learning and growth.
Job responsibilities:- Oversee the residential co-rec fall and spring leagues including the marketing, registration, scheduling, staff training, and implementation of games as well as the supervision of Co-Rec Commissioners
- Recruit students to participate in events by regularly attending residence hall government meetings and hosting programs and event specific informational sessions
- Work with Co-Rec Commissioners and other Residential Life staff to facilitate student involvement in the development of co-rec activities
- Regularly interacts with students during nights and weekends through Co-Rec Football, Co-Rec Winter Challenge initiatives, Homecoming and other determined programming
- Establishes and maintains office hours to meet with participants, attend university and programming meetings and manage administrative duties
- Utilize creative energies to develop, implement, and assess alternative program ideas to increase school spirit and residential area pride
- Complete administrative tasks as necessary for co-recreational programs including managing and tracking student payroll, reserving spaces, and ensuring proper equipment is available
- Serves on departmental committees as assigned including Campus Recreation Advisory Board
- Manages the Co-Rec Budget and associated financial resources
- Participate in August and January training programs, including New Student Orientation and University Fest
- Assist in Opening and other large departmental processes
- Work alongside the Operations team to manage physical spaces, such as turf fields, volleyball courts, basketball courts and other residential outdoor recreational spaces
- This position will meet regularly with RL and Campus Recreation sport programming staff
- Collaborate with the 6 Assistant Directors of RL and 24 RDs to gauge satisfaction with current programming and gain an understanding of programming needs and wants
- Responsible for reports to demonstrate progress or challenges with initiatives
Bachelor's Degree
- Experience working with college students on a programming level
- Demonstrable organizational, administrative, communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work individually and in a team setting
- Candidate must be open to flexible schedule to include evening and weekend obligations
Preferred:
- Master's Degree
- Post-graduate experience in Intramurals, Club Sports, or related sports management work
- Previous experience working in Residential Life
