Staff Associate (SL-4)

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000

The Office of Student Conduct (OSC) invites applicants for the position of Associate Director of Student Conduct. We are seeking applicants who are interested in working to create and maintain a campus environment conducive to students' academic success, personal growth, safety and well‑being. The OSC strives to foster and support an inclusive campus climate that appreciates and respects inclusion and diversity values consistent with the mission of the University.

The Associate Director of Student Conduct will be responsible for investigating and adjudicating cases of student misconduct, with a focus on cases involving hazing and Title IX violations. The successful candidate will have an interest in policy and processes, with an understanding of relevant SUNY policies, state and federal laws and mandates. This position works in collaboration with conduct board members, Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Dean of Students CARE Team, Residential Life, University Police and Title IX.

The Associate Director assists in the recruitment, training and management of board members for Level II cases. Additionally, the successful candidate will oversee annual case review and analysis, and Clery reporting.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Investigate and adjudicate alleged student misconduct for infractions which occur both on and off campus.
  • Lead investigations for hazing and Title IX cases, and compile comprehensive reports.
  • Serve as an advisor to hearing boards.
  • Coordinate the OSC's recruitment initiatives of new board members, and oversee trainings for Level II board members.
  • Serve as the liaison to the Title IX and Title VI Committee.
  • Supervise the Case Examiner position in the OSC.
  • Manage office compliance with annual Clery counting.
  • Assist with the management of Maxient conduct software, and lead the assessment and analysis of cases within Maxient.
  • Represent the director in meetings and on committees as directed.
  • Occasional evening, night or weekend work may be required if a situation warrants this need.
  • This position serves on the crisis response duty team for the Division of Student Affairs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree (or higher) in student affairs, higher education or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in student conduct or related field
  • Organizational, management, supervisory and leadership skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills including policy analysis and interpretation
  • Ability to maintain and complete tasks in a timely manner
