Job Description

The School of Management is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Management Information Systems (MIS) Lecturer to join our faculty. This role is primarily focused on excellence in the classroom, requiring a professional who can bridge the gap between complex technological concepts and practical business applications. The MIS Lecturer will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to both undergraduate and graduate students—focusing on foundational logic and systems, strategic implementation, and emerging technology.

This is a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track position.

Key Responsibilities Teaching
  • Teach four courses per semester (4+4) across the academic year. This includes core MIS courses such as MIS 311—Information Systems & Application and MGMT 500—Management Information Systems, and specialized MIS electives.
  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective lectures, assignments, and assessments that foster student learning and critical thinking.
  • Continuously update course materials to reflect the rapid pace of the tech industry (e.g., AI integration, cybersecurity trends, and cloud computing).
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methodologies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Hold regular office hours to provide individual support to students.
Service
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the MIS program.
  • Occasionally support student teams looking to participate in MIS case competitions within the region and nationally.
Professional Development
  • Engage in regular and sustained professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness and disciplinary knowledge. SOM AACSB accreditation guidelines specify a lecturer remains academically qualified by participating in a minimum of three professional engagement activities related to their field of teaching over a six‑year period.

Salary and benefits are aligned with SUNY UUP member negotiated benefits. The position reports to the Assistant Dean for the School of Management.
