Position Summary
The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is seeking a Director of Student Affairs. This full‑time role will manage the Office of Student Affairs and coordinate support to enrolled students to achieve student success and retention goals.
Key Responsibilities- Report to the Dean and coordinate with faculty and staff to support student success and retention goals.
- Collaborate with faculty advisors of student organizations.
- Manage student travel to national and state meetings.
- Oversee student government elections, involvement in school committees, and student services liaison roles.
- Advise students and assist those in crisis or facing academic challenges.
- Coordinate student records, including immunizations, background checks, drug screenings, and ensure internship license applications are submitted.
- Advocate for students and assist in progression, academic integrity and professionalism cases.
- Plan and arrange student events such as orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Awards Ceremony, and Career Fair.
- Serve as key point of contact for communications with pharmacy students, disseminating information about dean’s hours, trainings, testing accommodations, and accreditation.
- Supervise professional, clerical, and support staff.
- Manage the Student Affairs budget and ensure adherence to SUNY and university financial policies.
- Ensure compliance with institutional and SUNY policies.
- Contribute to accreditation requirements, including managing student complaints.
- Coordinate student scholarship awards.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Understanding of institutional and SUNY policies, procedures, and administrative processes.
- Ability to develop and maintain constructive collaborative relationships with faculty and administration.
- Ability to manage budgets, track expenditures, and support financial planning.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Student Affairs or related field.
- At least three years of higher education experience working directly with or advising students.
- Experience coordinating and organizing events, programs, meetings, or student‑facing initiatives.
- Master’s degree in Student Affairs or related field.
- Experience supervising personnel in higher education.
- Experience in a pharmacy school or health‑related field.
- Experience leading a retention effort.
