Salary: $58,000

The Office of International Education and Global Initiatives (IEGI) administers Binghamton University's international exchange and education abroad programs.

The Education Abroad Advisor provides professional-level administrative, technical, and programmatic support to the IEGI. The designated responsibilities are to be performed with attention to accuracy, clear and courteous communication with IEGI partners, and the efficiency required in an office environment at a public university. Promotional and outreach functions are important for this position. The applicant must maintain working relationships with faculty, education abroad directors and advisors, counterparts in other institutions in the U.S. and abroad, Binghamton University campus offices, and with students and parents.

The Education Abroad Advisor needs to exercise high levels of diplomacy, patience, cooperation, collegial communication, and, on occasion, the ability to be calmly firm. The Education Abroad Advisor reports to the Assistant Director of International Education and Global Initiatives.

Duties
  • Binghamton University education abroad programs:
    • Coordinate all program logistics by working collaboratively and professionally with colleagues in the IEGI, International Education and Global Affairs (IEGA), partner institutions, host organizations, faculty members, and other campus constituents, as needed.

    • Complete the education abroad program cycle, which includes recruiting and advising potential participants, guiding interested students through the application process, editing program materials in Terra Dotta, selecting program participants, developing on-site arrangements, researching program logistics, maintaining the program emergency response plan, and conducting pre-departure orientations for each program within the assigned portfolio.
    • Actively assess programs and share recommendations with the Assistant Director of International Education and Global Initiatives to strengthen all programs, with particular focus on those in the assigned portfolio. (The portfolio of programs will depend on the unique background the individual brings to the position.)
    • Work as a collaborative team member with other IEGI colleagues by providing support for advising, presenting information sessions, serving on scholarship committees, marketing, mentoring Education Abroad Ambassadors, conducting campus outreach, and covering the front desk, as needed.
