Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: $70,000

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) at Binghamton University strives to cultivate a culture of resilience while operating at the forefront of emergency management practices in higher education. OEM develops and implements comprehensive strategies prioritizing proactive preparedness and mitigation, effective response and adaptive recovery.

Reporting to the Associate Director, the Life Safety Program Manager plays a key role in supporting the University's emergency preparedness. This position focuses on managing all publicly accessible life safety equipment and providing training / outreach to a diverse campus community. The successful candidate must be able to thrive with both independent and group work, have strong analytical skills, and be comfortable acting as an ambassador for personal preparedness to all audiences.

Core

Duties
  • Serve as Binghamton University's Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program coordinator, and the Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (OOPP) program director, following NYS guidelines for these roles
  • Develop a new publicly accessible epinephrine program based on NYS guidelines, and serve as the program coordinator
  • Coordinate the maintenance of Binghamton University's publicly accessible life safety equipment, including but not limited to AEDs, mass bleeding control, and NARCAN®
  • Coordinate the integration of emergency stations across campus properties, and promote familiarity with station equipment and technology
  • Represent Binghamton University's life safety program to on- and off-campus committees, agencies and stakeholders
  • Develop and conduct awareness-level trainings and workshops targeted to a diverse campus community
  • Prepare reports, policies, procedures and documentation that support the life safety program
Additional Emergency Management Duties
  • Serve as a member of Binghamton University's Incident Management Team (IMT), a multidisciplinary group of employees trained to respond to complex campus emergencies
