Title:

Instructional Support Associate (SL-2)

Salary: $54,090

The Department of Biological Sciences at Binghamton University (http://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) is seeking candidates for a full-time position as an Intro Biology Lab Instructional Support Associate for the intro biology laboratory courses, beginning Fall 2026.

Duties
  • Maintaining Daphnia magna and algae cultures utilized in Intro Biology Lab (Biol 115)
  • Preparing reagents and materials needed in Biol 115
  • Ordering supplies and equipment for Biol 115
  • Setting up the laboratory instrumentation used, including setup and breakdown of lab stations
  • Maintaining inventories and monitoring the condition of the equipment used in the introductory lab course and recommending replacement and repairs as needed.
  • Working with teaching assistants to familiarize them with protocols and instrumentation for instructional purposes
  • May be asked to teach a laboratory section of Biol 115 and hold office hours
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in biology or related field
  • Effective organizational and written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability working with a diverse group of individuals
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree (or higher) in biology or a related field
  • Work experience at the college level
  • Demonstrated training or experience in biology
  • Laboratory experience
  • Teaching experience
