Role Summary

Senior Principal Project Engineer – Execution Lead in the Simulation and Training Solutions (P2) Engineering department. Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team to design, develop, and execute high‑fidelity simulation systems for U.S. Department of Defense training. Oversee technical leadership, project management, and bid/pursuit support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the single point of contact for engineering and project management for the assigned program
  • Lead a multi‑disciplinary engineering team (systems, software, electrical, mechanical, quality)
  • Act as the primary customer technical interface for the assigned program
  • Guide engineering development per RTX Lifecycle Management System (RLPM), engineering process, requirements, budget, and schedule
  • Develop and monitor project plans, schedules, and budgets for small‑to‑mid size projects; recommend adjustments to maintain plan adherence
  • Work with group managers to staff the project appropriately and resolve resource issues
  • Support technical risk mitigation and opportunity identification
  • Pursue cost‑saving opportunities and risk mitigation to maximize project profitability
  • Document delays, scope changes, and other incidents impacting scope or schedule
  • Conduct meetings, consolidate, and present plans and progress reports to business stakeholders
  • Identify and recommend solutions to project problems, including resource reallocation or contractual changes
  • Lead engineering bid and proposal efforts for new and existing customer opportunities
  • Provide input to gate review material, project management reviews, and EAC reviews
  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with at least 7 years of experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. Government DoD Top Secret Security Clearance required prior to start date
  • U.S. citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong organizational and communication skills when interacting with engineering, leadership, and customers
  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes and tools (ALM, JIRA, Subversion)
  • Experience in software/systems development preferred
  • Experience with pursuit activities, including bids and proposals
  • Experience in simulation of avionics systems development, verification/validation, and interfaces beneficial
  • Experience with Earned Value analysis and Cost Account Manager (CAM) roles
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance; active clearance a plus

Salary Range

USD 132,400 – 251,600 (based on experience, location, and qualifications)
