We're looking for an Assistant Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Facilities division in Binghamton, NY. This is more than just a job - it's a chance to shape your career, grow alongside a collaborative team, and help design the future of infrastructure solutions across the country.
Position Summary
The Assistant Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and technical execution of HVAC and other mechanical building systems for a variety of projects, including aviation, hospitality, healthcare, and educational facilities. This role requires the ability to work independently on complex tasks, ensure code compliance, and coordinate seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams using Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and analysis of HVAC, mechanical, and building systems for infrastructure and facilities projects
- Support senior engineers with MEP system layouts, calculations, and equipment selection
- Prepare engineering drawings using Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, and architectural teams on integrated building system designs
- Bachelor's Degree: A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program is preferred.

Experience:
1 to 5 years of mechanical design experience in building systems. - Communication
Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary for collaborating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams (architects, civil/mechanical engineers) and clients. - Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are critical for designing efficient and safe systems and troubleshooting issues. - Attention to Detail:
Precision in design and documentation is crucial for meeting stringent safety standards and project requirements. - Eagerness to Learn: A proactive attitude, a passion for occasional field visits, site inspections, and working full-time from our office (onsite position), including staying updated with industry trends and technologies, is highly valued for this candidate.
