Job Description

Senior Mechanical-HVAC Engineer in the Advanced Manufacturing Division of Ramboll.

Ramboll is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer in our Binghamton, NY office. The selected candidate for this position will be expected to work across a wide range of mechanical engineering knowledge areas and have a desired focus area in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning related work. The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

* Performing design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline. The majority of the work will be related to heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC); however, the candidate should also expect work in industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.

* Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.

* Developing conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.

* Creating design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software.

* Conducting or participating in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.

* Assessing and designing building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.

* Conducting spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs)

* Utilizing building modeling software (HAP or Trane Trace) to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.

* Specifying mechanical equipment

* Designing plumbing and building utility piping systems

* Summarizing engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.

* Visiting job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems. A mix of day trips and overnight domestic trips should be expected.

* Adhering to the policies and standards set forth in the Ramboll's Project Execution Manual.

* Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll's Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.

Qualifications

Skills &

Qualifications:

* B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or greater

* 5+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems

* Licensed professional engineer strongly preferred

* Ability to foster a creative engineering environment

* Strong communication skills, (both in written and verbal)

* Ability to work across a wide range of areas within the mechanical engineering discipline

* Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs

* Experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software preferred
