Location:
NYSEG – NY – Binghamton | Hourly Range: $48.71 – $65.61
- Coordinate operation of section facilities that may affect electric and gas transmission and distribution systems under directive supervision.
- Coordinate outage of lines and equipment for testing, maintenance and repairs to ensure continuity of service with Area and District operating personnel.
- Issue switching orders for de-energizing, grounding, tagging and re-energizing transmission, sub‑transmission, distribution, substation and generating plant facilities.
- Ensure strict observance of the "Operating Instructions for Switching and Tagging Procedures of Electric Lines and Equipment" and standard gas operation procedures.
- Make initial analysis of trouble in the section and initiate actions to minimize interruptions.
- Operate and monitor supervisory-controlled electric substations throughout the section.
- Monitor and maintain gas pressures at specified locations within predetermined limits using supervisory control equipment.
- Maintain logs of section operations to supplement automatically recorded data.
- Mark up system diagram boards to reflect current field conditions.
- Receive trouble calls when customer service personnel and switchboard operators are off duty and dispatch crews for minor troubles during that period.
- Recognize unusual conditions or situations and inform responsible Corporate, Area or District operating personnel.
- Perform other related or lesser-skilled work as required.
- Possess an A.A.S. degree in Electrical Technology.
- Have at least three (3) years of experience in electric operating or related functions.
- Will be expected to complete the Section Operator Training Program, including general knowledge of generating stations, transmission and distribution lines, substations, gas distribution systems, Company territory geography, Company Safety Rules, and standard procedures for gas operations.
- Be capable of qualifying for an Automobile Operator's License when required.
- Normal health, physique and use of senses, as indicated by passing the required physical examination given by a Company physician (including color perception).
- Possess analytical ability and emotional stability.
- Maintain neatness and orderliness in work and preparation of records.
- Be willing to work extra, irregular hours, and/or a shift schedule.
- Communicate orders and instructions in a manner that inspires respect and confidence.
