Senior Mechanical‑HVAC Engineer – Advanced Manufacturing Division

Responsibilities- Performing design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline. The majority of the work will be related to heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); however, the candidate should also expect work in industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
- Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
- Developing conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
- Conducting or participating in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
- Assessing and designing building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
- Conducting spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs).
- Utilizing building modeling software (HAP or Trane Trace) to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.
- Specifying mechanical equipment.
- Designing plumbing and building utility piping systems.
- Summarizing engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.
- Visiting job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems. A mix of day trips and overnight domestic trips should be expected.
- Adhering to the policies and standards set forth in Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual.
- Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
- 5+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
- Licensed professional engineer strongly preferred.
- Ability to foster a creative engineering environment.
- Strong communication skills, both in written and verbal.
- Ability to work across a wide range of areas within the mechanical engineering discipline.
- Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software preferred.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $79,000 to $100,000 per year. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and includes a comprehensive benefits package that supports well‑being, professional development, and work‑life balance.
