Position Overview
Location:
Binghamton, NY. Salary range: $68,900 - $131,100 USD.
Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering professional to design, analyze, test, integrate, qualify, and document mechanical hardware for flight and ground vehicle training simulators. The role involves working on both clean‑sheet and re‑use designs, including custom electro‑mechanical assemblies, bracketry, weldments, sheet metal enclosures, and special mechanical structures that provide realistic training environments.
Responsibilities- Design, analyze, test, integrate, qualify and document mechanical hardware of moderate complexity.
- Master internal processes and tools for development of training simulator hardware.
- Collaborate closely with electrical, software and systems engineers to ensure mechanical design aligns with project/product goals.
- Participate in cross‑functional integration and test of completed designs and subsystems.
- Create design documentation using Solid Works and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Generate baseline change notifications based on technical lead direction.
- Provide support for customer or internal reviews and meetings.
- Support remote teams and may travel up to 15% of the time.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; active DoD Secret clearance required.
- Degree in STEM and minimum 2years of relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field.
- Experience with Solid Works or similar CAD tool.
- Active DoD security clearance.
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Experience using mechanical test equipment.
