Position: Engineer - Product 1

Product Engineer 1

The Product Engineer 1 is responsible for developing, maintaining, and validating manufacturing documentation, tooling, and process requirements used in the production of complex cable assemblies, wire harnesses, printed circuit board assemblies and electromechanical products for commercial and military applications. This position works closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Planning, Estimating, Quality, and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to ensure products are effectively transitioned into production and manufactured in accordance with customer, engineering, and quality requirements.

To excel in this role, you must be able to communicate clearly, solve technical problems, and work effectively within a cross-functional manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Create, maintain, and revise electronic work instructions, manufacturing documentation, and process routings.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, schematics, and customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing tooling requirements and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure manufacturing documentation accurately reflects engineering requirements and production processes.
  • Support document control activities related to engineering changes and product updates.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing operations for existing and new products.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production issues and identifying root causes of manufacturing nonconformances.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve product quality.
  • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions when required.
  • Participate in new product introduction activities and manufacturing readiness reviews.
  • Assist with development of process routings, labor standards, tooling requirements, and manufacturing documentation for new products.
  • Support prototype, pilot, and first-article production activities.
  • Participate in design reviews, process reviews, and engineering meetings.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support process improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, safety, and cost reduction.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to cable assemblies, wire harnesses, electromechanical assemblies, or similar products.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical problems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and engineering documentation systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology with relevant industry experience may be considered.
  • Entry level to three (3) years of engineering, manufacturing, or technical experience.
  • Experience supporting cable assembly, electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, or related industries preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing documentation, tooling, and process development preferred.
Physical/Environmental Requirements
  • This position is conducted primarily in an office environment within warehouse and production environments. There will be prolonged computer use as well as frequent movement, including walking, standing, lifting, and handling materials. Work may require operating material-handling equipment and performing tasks in areas with varying temperatures, noise levels, and typical industrial conditions. Hours:
  • Full-time position.
  • Standard work schedule is a minimum of forty (40) hours per week.
  • Weekend work may be required based on business and production demands.
Work Location:
  • Must be able to commute to Binghamton, NY (required)
