Joining Ramboll
As our new Mechanical Engineer, you will be working across a wide range of mechanical design knowledge areas and have a desired focus area in HVAC design of chemical, power, and/or industrial facilities. The candidate will work alongside other experienced and entry level engineers in an environment where sharing knowledge to develop innovative technically sound designs is considered the key to success.
Tasksand Responsibilities
- Perform design and engineering work in mechanical disciplines, primarily HVAC, with additional focus on industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
- Develop conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
- Conduct or participate in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
- Assess and design building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
- Conduct spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs).
- Use building modeling software to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.
- Specify mechanical equipment.
- Design plumbing and building utility piping systems.
- Summarize engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.
- Visit job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems; a mix of day trips and overnight domestic trips is expected.
- Adhere to the policies and standards set forth in the Ramboll Project Execution Manual.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred, not required).
- 4+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
- Working knowledge of fire protection requirements for industrial facilities, including IFC, NFPA standards and FM Global guidelines.
- Desire to work in chemical, power, and industrial market segments.
