Job OverviewRamboll is seeking experienced candidates to join the Solutions for Industry group in our Binghamton, NY office as a Mechanical Engineer. You will lead and demonstrate your experience on medium and large industrial projects, focusing on HVAC design for chemical, power, and/or industrial facilities.
Responsibilities- Perform design and engineering work in various mechanical discipline areas, primarily HVAC.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details.
- Develop conceptual designs and cost estimates at early stages of the project life cycle.
- Conduct or participate in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
- Assess and design building ventilation systems for heat removal and indoor air quality.
- Conduct spreadsheet analysis to assess energy and cost savings of proposed ECMs.
- Use building modeling software to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials.
- Specify mechanical equipment.
- Design plumbing and building utility piping systems.
- Summarize engineering results in written reports and/or presentations.
- Visit job sites as required, including day trips and overnight domestic travel.
- Adhere to policies and standards defined in Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment by following Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred, not required).
- 4+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
- Working knowledge of fire protection requirements for industrial facilities (IFC, NFPA standards, FM Global guidelines).
- Desire to work in chemical, power, and industrial markets.
