Job Summary

As the HR Manager supporting Chartwells Higher Education at Binghamton University, you’ll serve as a trusted strategic partner to both onsite leadership and our corporate HR team. In this highly visible role, you will shape the associate experience, strengthen organizational culture, and drive talent initiatives across a dynamic, high‑engagement academic dining environment. You will lead critical HR functions including associate relations, leadership coaching, frontline talent acquisition, training, compliance, and diversity initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Associate Relations & Cultural Leadership
  • Serve as the subject‑matter expert on HR policies, procedures, and best practices, providing guidance to managers and associates.
  • Investigate and resolve associate relations matters with a focus on fairness, engagement, and compliance.
  • Lead exit interview processes and provide insights to decrease turnover and improve retention.
  • Support associate satisfaction and internal feedback initiatives, translating insights into actionable HR strategies.
Training, Coaching & Leadership Development
  • Design and deliver management training on topics including performance management, progressive discipline, interviewing, and harassment prevention.
  • Regularly conduct HR training such as HR 101, Sexual Harassment Prevention, and other compliance‑based sessions.
  • Present HR programs and updates at operational meetings and Field Operations Workshops, ensuring strong HR visibility across campus operations.
Recruitment & Talent Strategy
  • Partner with managers to develop recruitment plans that strengthen candidate pipelines and attract top frontline talent.
  • Provide tools and guidance to hiring managers on interviewing, selection, and onboarding best practices.
  • Represent Chartwells at career fairs, community events, and school‑based engagements to promote opportunities and brand presence.
  • Lead new hire orientation to ensure a welcoming and consistent experience for all incoming associates.
Operational Partnership & HR Excellence
  • Conduct HR assessments to identify opportunity areas and support critical markets within the SSC sector.
  • Attend operational meetings to embed HR strategy into business priorities and strengthen partnership with operations leadership.
  • Help drive Preferred Employer initiatives and support broader HR business plans across the division.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of multi‑unit HR generalist experience, ideally with a focus on associate relations.
  • Experience in high customer‑contact environments, hospitality or food service a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data, legal documents, financial information, and employee feedback.
  • Demonstrated competence in problem‑solving, statistical reasoning, and drawing actionable conclusions.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills.
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
