Title:
Instructional Support Associate (SL-2)
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Responsibilities- Assist with the configuration, installation, cabling and documentation of network hardware.
- Assist with the installation, documentation and maintenance of network IDF UPS battery backup devices.
- Troubleshooting and repair of networking hardware and ethernet connections.
- Provide network support to the campus community (faculty, staff and students).
- Respond to network outages and provide after‑hours support, including on‑call shifts.
- Make recommendations on specifications for network hardware as well as network design.
- Assist with the maintenance of procedural documentation and network configuration scripts.
- In conjunction with other staff maintain network monitoring and management systems.
- Assist with ongoing network maintenance (i.e., hardware and firmware upgrades) across the enterprise network infrastructure at Binghamton University.
- Handle RMA duties for network equipment as required.
- Associate’s Degree (or higher) and at least one year of experience working in an Information Technology role.
- At least one year of hands‑on experience practicing with enterprise networking equipment.
- Understanding of network concepts and the ability to implement associated technologies (switching, VLANs, spanning tree).
- Knowledge of ethernet wiring standards and experience repairing ethernet data connections.
- Customer service skills with at least one year of customer‑service related experience.
- Experience working with fiber optic‑based network connections.
- Experience with IOS‑based Cisco network hardware.
