Systems Analyst, IT Consultant
Location: City of Binghamton
About the Opportunity
As a Senior Consultant for Ellucian Managed Services, you will serve as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert supporting enterprise applications, including the Ellucian Banner ERP system and related data and reporting solutions across multiple client sites. In this role, you will partner closely with institutional stakeholders to assess, design, and optimize business processes, ensuring effective and innovative use of technology aligned with institutional mission, goals, and objectives.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—both on-site and remote—including programmer analysts, system and database administrators, and functional experts, providing guidance and leadership to enhance application performance, data utilization, and service delivery.
Where you will make an impact- Serve as a trusted advisor to client leadership, providing strategic guidance on administrative and enterprise systems, including Banner ERP and related applications.
- Provide functional and technical expertise to support system optimization, configuration, and ongoing operations.
- Lead and influence cross‑functional teams through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and coordination rather than direct line management.
- Partner with stakeholders to analyze, document, and improve business processes and workflows.
- Advise on project planning, including defining goals, timelines, resource needs, and implementation strategies.
- Drive successful project delivery through strong project management practices, clear communication, and stakeholder alignment.
- Develop and recommend change management strategies, communication plans, testing approaches, and documentation standards.
- Act as a liaison between functional users and technical teams to ensure effective translation of business needs into system solutions.
- Support evaluation, selection, and implementation of enterprise systems and third‑party solutions.
- Provide systems analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting expertise to improve efficiency and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Recommend and promote quality assurance practices for change management and system enhancements.
- Assess third‑party tools, integrations, and infrastructure for compatibility and strategic value.
- Advise on data management strategies, including storage, archival, and governance best practices.
- Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and technical standards that support scalable and cost‑effective system operations.
- Design and guide integration of data sources across Oracle and other platforms.
- Coordinate and provide direction to distributed technical and reporting resources.
- Ensure alignment with federal and state reporting requirements and evolving regulatory standards.
- Deliver training, workshops, and mentorship to both functional users and technical staff.
- Facilitate communication through regular status updates, stakeholder meetings, and executive reporting.
- Lead business analysis efforts and support process reengineering initiatives.
- Provide expert guidance on Banner ERP environments, including upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, establish KPIs, and promote best practices across client engagements. Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver ERP projects and implementations aligned with institutional priorities.
- 5+ years of relevant experience, including significant experience supporting higher education ERP systems.
- Deep functional and technical expertise in Ellucian Banner ERP; experience with Banner SaaS or other higher education SaaS ERP solutions preferred.
- Demonstrated success in a consulting, advisory, or client‑facing role, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive outcomes.
- Strong project management skills; PMP certification preferred.
- Broad technical background, including implementation and support of administrative or academic systems in higher education.
- Knowledge of higher education business processes, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences.
