Litigation Attorney

Coughlin & Gerhart LLP is seeking a full-time New York State admitted attorney with 3+ years of experience for our Litigation practice group. This position would require travel to the Ithaca office on occasion.

• Draft legal documents, including motions, discovery and pleadings.
• Conduct depositions, appear for oral arguments and attend client meetings
• Negotiate settlements/advise clients.
• Perform legal research, draft Memorandum of Law.
• Oversee consultations with potential clients.
• Handle hearings, arbitrations and trials.

• Competently manage situations requiring diplomacy, fairness, firmness and sound judgement.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and promptly respond to client needs.
• Ability to write in a clear, concise, and effective manner.
• Excellent verbal communication and advocacy skills.
• Ability to perform quick and reliable research.
• Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and convey information effectively in person, by email, and telephone.
• Committed to legal profession and teamwork approach.

• Current New York Bar admission.
• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• 3+ years of litigation experience required.
• Strong desire to further legal skills.
