Working as a Director of Operations with Compass Group gives you the opportunity to lead with purpose, grow a dynamic team, and create exceptional experiences for the Binghamton University community. With 20+ retail locations across campus, this role is ideal for an innovative, people‑first food service leader who thrives in a fast‑paced, student‑focused environment.

As the Retail Director, you will oversee a large‑scale, multi‑unit dining operation while maintaining the highest standards of quality, service, and profitability. You’ll partner closely with campus leadership, energize diverse teams, and drive excellence across all retail food venues.

• Lead Strategic Planning: develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and operational plans to ensure financial success across all retail outlets.

  Experience:
  
  maintain and implement Compass Group quality standards in food, service, safety, and brand consistency across all locations.
• Ensure Compliance: uphold all company, regional, and account programs—including safety, sanitation, HR practices, and operational policies.
• Drive Operational Excellence: oversee reporting accuracy, inventory management, labor optimization, vendor partnerships, and campus relationship management.
• Champion Team Growth: lead, coach, and develop management and frontline teams to build a culture of engagement, accountability, and performance.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum 5 years of food service management experience
• Required experience in Higher Education—including both board operations and retail dining
• Proven expertise in P&L management and contract‑managed services
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to thrive in a high‑volume, multi‑unit, student‑centric environment
