Licensed Practical Nurse

Overview

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides skilled nursing care tasks and procedures under the direction of an RN, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, physician, or other authorized health care provider.

Required:

Graduated from an accredited school of Practical Nursing.

Required:

Current New York State Practical Nurse License, a Limited Permit, or ability to practice within the 90‑day grace period allowed by New York State guidelines.

Preferred:
Basic Skills Certifications (CPR).

• Work is performed in an office environment and patient care areas that require working in proximity to other employees and patients.
• Rooms are air conditioned and heated.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, pushing, and lifting.
• Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
• Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants.
• PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies.

All Age Groups.

Roles-Based Access to Patient Information:
Clinical – Access to patient information that is not restricted (an example of restricted information is ARU) – Level 3.
