PD RN Pre-Admissions - Per Diem

About This Role

The Pre-Admission Registered Nurse (RN) conducts assessments and coordinates care for patients prior to surgical procedures. This role is ideal for nurses skilled in physical assessment and patient education, particularly in a peri-anesthetic setting.

• Pay: $31.62 to $48.82
• Location: Binghamton, NY
• Facility: Robert Packer Hospital
• Schedule: Per Diem

• Perform verbal assessments with patients prior to admission via phone or in-person.
• Review patients' medical histories to identify potential risks or complications.
• Coordinate and perform diagnostic tests to ensure patients are medically fit for procedures.
• Ensure pre-operative care requirements are accomplished through the nursing process.
• Provide patient education as established by the department.
• Document interventions and evaluate results.
• Maintain and promote patient safety by assessing physical and psychological needs.
• Respond to telephone inquiries regarding patient needs.
• Communicate surgical and NPO instructions to patients.
• Alert anesthesia of lab results and special needs prior to surgery.

• Education: BSN in Nursing preferred.
• Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a registered nurse, or less than 1 year if transitioned from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program.
