United Health Services, the largest and most comprehensive healthcare provider in the Southern Tier of New York, is seeking a Staff Registered Nurse, Operating Room to join our team at UHS Wilson Medical Center.
Our OR team is a cohesive, highly skilled, and supportive group of professionals dedicated to delivering outstanding surgical care. This role offers exposure to a wide range of surgical specialties and the opportunity to collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across the hospital.
ScheduleFull‑Time & Part‑Time Opportunities Available.
- 1 weekend per month (Saturday & Sunday shifts)
- On‑call shift following each weekend shift
Operating Room, UHS Binghamton General Hospital
Primary Work ShiftMultiple shifts available.
Compensation$40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience. You will be eligible for benefits if hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours.
Essential Functions- Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost and impact.
- Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
- Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.
- Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services.
- Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and UHS policies.
- Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
- Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements.
- Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
- Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
- Performs duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.
Minimum
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing
- Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
Minimum
Required:
- Current New York State Registered Nurse License
Preferred:
- CCRN
- Relevant skills certification (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned
