Position Overview

United Health Services is seeking a Sepsis Coordinator to lead the growth, development, and ongoing success of our system-wide Sepsis Program. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on improving outcomes for a complex patient population through collaboration, clinical expertise, and performance improvement. In this role, you’ll partner closely with Emergency Department teams and interdisciplinary leaders to drive evidence-based sepsis care across the continuum.

You’ll influence practice, coach clinical teams, and lead strategic initiatives that ensure high-quality, efficient, and coordinated care delivery for sepsis patients across UHS.

Compensation Range

$37.00 - $55.50 per hour, depending on experience

Required Functions
  • Develop and maintain a well-coordinated, multi-disciplinary sepsis accreditation program at UHS.
  • Develop, review, and update standards of care, policies, clinical pathways, protocols, and order sets to comply with sepsis program best practices and optimal patient outcomes; act as an expert resource for sepsis care.
  • Serve as coordinator for all sepsis workflows.
  • Collaborate with the quality management department & sepsis registry programs and staff to ensure timely and accurate data abstraction/entry occurs.
  • Responsible for developing, coordinating, and ensuring delivery of regular sepsis education to nurses, physicians, clinicians, patients, families, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), communities, referring hospitals.
  • Develop performance improvement plans for sepsis programs that achieve and maintain positive patient outcomes.
  • Promote a positive image of the UHS to patients, physicians, EMS, hospital staff, and the community.
  • Monitor and adhere to following sepsis rounding procedures on admitted sepsis patients and navigate their care; lead/supervise other nurse navigators if assigned.
  • Participate in appropriate hospital committees.
  • Actively participate on local, regional, and national advisory groups to work to advance the science of care for the sepsis patient. Remain abreast of current evidence-based practice for sepsis.
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-5 years clinical nursing experience in the Emergency Department, Critical Care, or inpatient service line.
License and Certification
  • NYS Registered Nurse
