Position Summary
This is a per diem RN position for Seton 1 Cardiac Telemetry at Lourdes Hospital. Cardiac Telemetry is a 25‑bed acute care unit at Guthrie Lourdes in Binghamton, NY. The unit focuses on cardiac diagnoses such as heart failure, irregular cardiac rhythms, and heart attacks, and serves as the hospital’s primary stroke unit. It is a fast‑paced unit with a variety of diagnoses, offering nurses the opportunity to gain a broad range of skills.
Education,License & Certificate
- Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
- BSN in Nursing preferred.
- Any previously agreed effective date for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in nursing remains in effect, including those transitioning from the NLRN Program.
- Specialty certification is preferred.
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS is unit dependent.
- PALS is unit dependent.
- Registered Nurse must be currently licensed in the state of employment with at least one year of experience, or less than one year if transitioned from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program.
- Must meet the unit’s educational requirements during employment.
- Must maintain BLS certification.
- ACLS is unit dependent.
- Specifications regarding educational requirements during employment are determined by the Nursing Department and Nursing Unit.
- Assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care; develops updates and coordinates the patient’s plan to achieve goals and optimize outcomes.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Performs and maintains essential competencies required by the specific area of hire and population served.
- Advocates for ethical and holistic care, promoting autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs of patients and families.
- Facilitates learning for patients/families, nursing staff, and other healthcare team members.
- Aligns practice with safety and quality, identifies and corrects problems, and integrates evidence and best practice into nursing care.
- Engages in ongoing professional development, practices at the top of license, and promotes research‑based practice.
- Demonstrates leadership as a change agent, collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, and models professional behaviors.
- Participates in planning and presentation of educational programs.
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary; this description is not all‑inclusive.
- Proficiency in information technology, including electronic health records, communication systems, computers, and equipment necessary to perform essential functions.
- Skilled in working with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff.
- Ability to use independent, critical judgment.
