Role
Registered Nurse (RN) for the Direct Observation Unit (DOU) provides patient-centered care in a fast‑paced setting focused on short‑stay evaluation and acute medical needs.
ResponsibilitiesAssess, plan, delegate, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients, serving as a primary or accountable nurse based on unit needs. Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management, safely administer medications, and optimize staffing and resource utilization. Support quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and professional development initiatives. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement, including mentoring new staff and students.
Qualifications & SkillsMust be a graduate of an accredited nursing school with a current NYS RN license. Preferred candidates hold a BSN, clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care, and relevant certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS). Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills are essential.
Work Environment & DutiesPerform in both office and patient care areas, requiring frequent walking, standing, and lifting in a fast‑paced environment. Adhere to infection control policies and all regulatory standards. Maintain professionalism and participate actively in shared governance and quality initiatives.
