Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience Research Laboratory at Binghamton University (PI: Sung-Joo Lim; ) is seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher. Our lab studies how humans perceive and learn speech sounds, aiming to understand the brain and cognitive mechanisms that support speech communication and learning.

The postdoctoral fellow will work on multimodal neuroimaging projects investigating the neural bases of sound/speech learning. The core methodologies will involve functional and structural neuroimaging (fMRI, DWI), electrophysiology (EEG), non-invasive brain stimulation, and cognitive-behavioral testing to explore the neural mechanisms underlying auditory learning and neuroplasticity.

Please contact Sung-Joo Lim (sungjoo) for informal inquiries or to discuss the position further.

Requirements:
  • A Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, speech/hearing sciences, linguistics, computer science, biomedical engineering or related field
  • Experience in advanced neuroimaging (fMRI/MRI/DWI) and/or electrophysiology (EEG/MEG) and computational analyses (i.e., machine learning methods, computational modeling)
  • Research experience in human cognition
  • Demonstrated strong quantitative skills and experience with scientific computing, including computational methods (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Linux) and neuroimaging/statistical methods (e.g., AFNI, FSL, SPM, Free surfer, R)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Additional information:
  • Applications will be considered regardless of citizenship or current visa status
  • Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline before the official start date of the position.
