As a construction carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing and assembling concrete forming systems in accordance with blueprints and specifications for the placement of concrete structures.
You will construct, erect, install, and repair structures, scaffolding, and framework using hand and power tools while adhering to DOT specifications.
You will interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine layout, dimensions, and required materials. The role requires knowledge in the use of concrete pumps, placement and finishing of concrete, and installation of rebar. You may also be assigned additional tasks outside of primary responsibilities to support the crew as needed.
Requirements- MUST PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING.
- Must be willing to travel.
- Must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced environment which includes long hours.
- Must be capable of strenuous physical exertion and lifting heavy items.
- Must be prepared to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to multi-task and accommodate multiple requests effectively.
- Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Must be able to communicate well with management, crew and project owners’ representatives.
- Must have the appropriate tools of the trade.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Licenses & Certifications- A valid OSHA 10-Hour certification is required.
- NYS DOT Welder Certification for Overhead Welding is a plus.
- OSHA 30hr certification.
- MSHA certification.
- NYS DOT Flagger certification.
- ACI Adhesive Anchor certification.
- ACI Flatwork Concrete Finisher Certification.
- Crane Operator License - Hydraulic.
- First Aid/CPR.
- NYS DOT Traffic Control Supervisor.
- A valid Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) Class A or B is preferred.
- CDL Endorsements for Air Brake, Tanker and Hazardous Materials are a plus.
- Must have valid driver's license, good driving record required.
- Knowledge of proper hand signaling for crane operations is preferred.
- Knowledge of safe load securing practices and rigging experience is preferred.
- 5 years of heavy/highway construction experience preferred.
- Experience on DOT projects is a plus.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices is required.
