Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fleet Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on company vehicles including school buses, motorcoaches, and support vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

General Accountabilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on buses and company vehicles
  • Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer and company standards
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, brakes, and HVAC systems
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining parts inventory
  • Respond to road calls and perform emergency repairs when needed
  • Operate company equipment and tools in a safe and professional manner
  • Collaborate with drivers and management to address vehicle concerns
  • Perform lot & facility maintenance as needed
  • Keep the lot clean, free of debris, snow, or hazards
  • Maintain signage, cones, barriers, and designated parking zones.
  • Report safety concerns, vehicle damage, or hazards immediately to management.
  • Assist with organizing tools, equipment, and supplies.
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a fleet, diesel, or heavy vehicle mechanic
  • Valid driver's license (CDL with Passenger endorsement preferred or willingness to obtain)
  • Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics
  • Ability to pass background check and drug/alcohol screening
Skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance record-keeping
