FULL POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
Eagle Star Housing is a non-profit organization located in Upstate New York that has been providing transitional housing and supportive services to Veterans and individuals experiencing housing instability since 2012. We pride ourselves on providing the most comfortable and supportive environments possible to ensure residents can successfully reach their individualized goals.
Eagle Star Housing is looking for qualified candidates to drive residents who live in a Permanent Supportive Housing program located at one site in Binghamton, NY.The current posting is for a Full-Time Driver position working daytime hours Monday - Friday.
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Permanent Supportive Housing Director, the candidate will provide transportation to residents that reside in permanent supportive housing through the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI). Residents in this program include individuals who have served in the United States Armed Forces and individuals with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) who have been identified as requiring supportive services to live independently.
Transportation needs include driving residents to and from appointments, employment, activities, grocery stores, etc.
Candidate will coordinate and work collaboratively with the Housing Director and Assistant Case Manager to identify transportation needs. Must be a good team player, have a positive attitude and be kind and compassionate.
Essential Functions:
Transporting residents to necessary locations depending on their needs.
Respects and maintains resident confidentiality and demonstrates a positive and caring attitude toward all residents and staff.
Practices and promotes positive peer and resident relations.
Maintains clear communications with the Housing Director regarding house needs and incidents.
Maintains a continuous physical presence within the program during working hours and responds to request for assistance.
Maintains positive and collaborative relationship with leasing agent.
Identifies opportunities for improvement.
Assists with implementation of policies and programs.
Identifies and promptly addresses unsafe practices and other safety issues in the program.
Attends staff meetings and other meetings as required by supervisor.
Performs other duties as assigned.
An unrestricted license is mandatory. Preferred candidate will have experience working with individuals with disabilities and preferably with Veterans. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions as necessary and have a working knowledge of computer technology. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, residents, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
