Job Summary
- Assists with transporting clients, ensures adherence to safety rules, and assists passengers in boarding or exiting, as necessary.
General Accountabilities
- Transfers passengers into and out of medical equipment including wheelchairs, stair‑chairs and stretchers.
- Lift passengers up and down stairs in medical equipment.
- Companion assistant to transport passengers.
- Complies with DOH regulations to operate medical equipment in a safe and courteous manner.
- Maintains order among passengers during trips to ensure safety.
- Checks the condition of medical equipment to ensure working order.
- Reports any malfunctions or repairs needed.
- Assists pick up and drop off passengers at designated locations, following schedules.
- Maintains knowledge of first‑aid procedures.
- Prepares and submits reports that may include the number of passengers or trips, hours worked, mileage, fuel consumption, or fares received.
- Reads maps and follows written and verbal geographic directions.
- Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
- Keeps bus interiors clean for passengers.
- Reports delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations.
Job Qualifications
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent - Experience:
Direct care of people with disabilities requiring assistance
