Prefer planned maintenance to spending every day on emergency breakdowns?

The Role

As a mobile Refrigeration PPM Engineer, you'll travel between retail sites across your allocated area, completing scheduled maintenance on commercial refrigeration systems. You'll inspect equipment, assess its condition, identify worn or failing components and carry out servicing in line with maintenance schedules and compliance requirements. Where remedial work is needed, you'll record your findings and recommend the appropriate repairs or replacement.

Although you'll be expected to support reactive breakdowns when required, the main priority is delivering planned maintenance and keeping refrigeration equipment safe, compliant and operational.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on commercial refrigeration systems across retail sites.
  • Complete scheduled servicing, inspections and statutory compliance checks.
  • Inspect refrigeration equipment and identify signs of wear, deterioration or potential failure.
  • Diagnose faults identified during maintenance visits, including electrical and refrigeration-related issues.
  • Replace faulty components and carry out remedial repairs where required.
  • Identify equipment that requires further repair or replacement and report your recommendations.
  • Complete service reports, maintenance records and compliance documentation accurately.
  • Liaise with customer site teams to discuss equipment condition and any remedial work required.
  • Attend reactive refrigeration breakdowns when necessary.

Follow current Health and Safety requirements, refrigeration regulations and safe working procedures.

We're keen to hear from engineers with experience in commercial refrigeration maintenance, particularly those who have worked across supermarket, retail or facilities management environments. Relevant job titles could include:

You'll ideally have:

  • Electrical fault-finding skills and the ability to identify potential equipment failures.
  • An NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, or equivalent time-served experience.
  • A valid F-Gas Category 1 qualification, such as City & Guilds 2079.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a planned schedule across multiple sites.
  • A professional approach when dealing with customers and site teams.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • The flexibility to participate in an on-call standby rota.
What’s On Offer
  • £44,736 basic annual salary
  • Company van
