POSITION PURPOSE
We are seeking an experienced Controller who can remotely manage our Thailand-based accounting staff, produce accurate and timely consolidated financial statements across multiple entities and currencies, implement and maintain strong internal controls, and provide meaningful financial analysis to support business decisions.
The Controller will serve as the organization’s senior accounting and financial reporting leader, responsible for multi-entity accounting, consolidations, and internal controls, while working closely with international teams. This is a hands-on role focused on execution, accuracy, and financial insight in a remote, cross-border environment.
The Controller will also coordinate with a U.S.
-based accounting firm and other external advisors as needed. Exposure to international tax and transfer pricing is a plus, but not a requirement; the Controller’s role is to support the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of intercompany and international transactions in accordance with established policies and local requirements.
Experience:
- At least 5 years progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience managing or overseeing accounting staff
- Hands-on experience with multi-entity consolidations
- Multi-currency accounting experience
- Manufacturing or inventory-based business experience preferred
Technical
Skills:
- Solid US GAAP technical accounting knowledge
- Advanced Excel proficiency (complex consolidations, financial models)
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems
- Ability to prepare consolidated financial statements independently
Core Competencies:
- Can work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage remote teams (different time zones/cultures)
- Detail-oriented with high accuracy standards
- Comfortable working in entrepreneurial/growth stage environment
Work Schedule:
- Must be able to accommodate occasional calls with Thailand (early morning or evening depending on US time zone)
- Flexible work schedule but must meet monthly close deadlines
- Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow)
- Manage multi-entity consolidations and intercompany eliminations
- Handle foreign currency translation and gain/loss calculations
- Ensure timely month-end close (target: 10-15 days after month-end)
- Oversee Thailand-based accounting staff (functional/matrix reporting)
- Review work product from accounting team
- Provide training and guidance on processes and standards
- Establish clear expectations and accountability
- Design and implement internal control framework
- Document accounting policies and procedures
- Identify and remediate control weaknesses
- Ensure appropriate segregation of duties across entities
- Perform ad hoc analyses as requested by ownership
- Provide FP&A support (variance analysis, KPI tracking)
- Support budgeting and forecasting
- Analyze margins, product profitability, and operational metrics
- Ensure proper revenue recognition, inventory accounting, COGS
- Manage accounts payable, receivable, and cash
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
- Support international tax compliance and transfer pricing issues
- CPA license
- Public accounting background (Big 4 or regional firm)
- Prior experience with Asian operations or Thailand specifically
- Apparel/textile/fashion industry experience
- Experience implementing accounting systems or process improvements
- Knowledge of Thailand accounting/tax requirements
Target Salary Range: Up to $110,000 (flexibility depending on experience, location, credentials)
