Assistant Controller (Full-Time, On-Site)
Location: Birmingham, AL

Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller to support and strengthen the accounting function for a growing organization. This role is ideal for a strong Senior Accountant who’s ready to step into broader responsibilities, gain leadership exposure, and develop toward a future controller-level position.

• Support the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, variance analysis, and preparation of financial statements
• Assist with daily accounting operations and help maintain the accuracy of the general ledger
• Contribute to financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting activities
• Partner with internal teams to understand operational drivers that impact financial results
• Maintain and improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controls
• Assist with audit preparation, documentation, and ongoing compliance requirements
• Create and refine financial schedules, reports, and analyses to support decision-making
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 3–6 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong Senior Accountant background with readiness for expanded responsibility
• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and month end close processes
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to build schedules and analyses independently
• Curious, detail oriented, and comfortable working with both financial and operational information
• CPA or public accounting experience is a plus, but not required
