Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Description

A unique entrepreneurial organization with multiple operating businesses is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee all accounting functions across several entities. This is a newly created role and offers significant autonomy, visibility, and responsibility for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in fast-paced, owner-led environments. This position will serve as the sole accounting professional for a portfolio of diverse business operations, including manufacturing, agriculture, consumer products, and service-based entities.

The ideal candidate is comfortable wearing many hats and managing the full accounting cycle independently.

Key Responsibilities

+ Manage full-cycle accounting for multiple business entities

+ Maintain general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and invoicing

+ Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

+ Perform inventory tracking and cost accounting for manufacturing and product-based operations

+ Monitor product orders, job costing, and operational expenses

+ Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal controls

+ Handle multiple projects and priorities across different business units

+ Serve as the primary financial resource for ownership and leadership

Position Overview

+ Department of one (hands-on Controller role)

+ Not a bookkeeping position and not a CFO role - this is a true working Controller

+ High level of accountability and ownership over all accounting processes

+ Reports directly to the Owner

Requirements

Requirements

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

+ Proven ability to run a full set of books for multiple businesses or entities

+ Experience working directly with an entrepreneur or owner-led organization

+ Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities

+ Comfortable working in a demanding, high-expectation environment

Preferred Qualifications

+ Manufacturing or cost accounting experience

+ Inventory and product costing background

+ Prior experience supporting multiple business units

+ Quick Books
