Corporate Staff Accountant

Location:

Birmingham, AL

Our client is seeking a Corporate Staff Accountant to support the organization’s accounting and financial reporting functions. This role partners closely with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely completion of the monthly close process. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the integrity of the general ledger
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Analyze financial results and research variances
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing required documentation
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls
  • Collaborate with AP, AR, payroll, FP&A, and other departments to support overall financial operations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1–3+ years of accounting experience (public accounting or corporate experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience
  • CPA or CPA-eligible preferred.
  • Experience with multi-entity or multi-location organizations
  • Exposure to SOX compliance and internal control environments
  • Experience in a mid-to-large corporate setting
