Position Summary & Responsibilities
This Senior Accountant will be responsible for the accounting and reporting of our non-operated well portfolio and will also have certain reporting responsibilities in our operated portfolio. The role creates value for the Company and its stakeholders, including investors, lenders and regulators, through the oversight of the accurate and efficient preparation of the Company’s accounting records. The Senior Accountant will work with professionals in departments throughout the Company and engage with various external parties and subject‑matter experts.
The Senior Accountant must be detail‑oriented, organized and possess technical competence to perform accounting research and oversee the accurate preparation of accounting records for auditors and similar parties.
Location:
Birmingham, AL (in office).
- Prepare accurate accounting and reporting for cash receipts, revenue, operating expenses, and capex in our non-op portfolio at a summary, operator, and well level
- Develop and expand the reporting suite for our non-op portfolio
- Prepare/Review designated Controller reports & roll-forward schedules
- Support the annual audit and help ensure SOX compliance in designated areas of responsibility
- Brainstorm with other members of the accounting team to come up with the best financial plans, analysis, and projections for the company
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports to senior management
- Develop and maintain revenue forecasting models
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on revenue trends
- Ensure compliance with revenue recognition policies and procedures
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and disclosures related to revenue
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- CPA preferred
- Knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and SEC reporting requirements
- Familiarity with Hyperion
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Highly motivated and detail-oriented with keen analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
