Our client is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee key accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. This position will partner closely with senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, support budgeting and forecasting efforts, and help drive process improvements across the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Review balance sheet activity, cash accounts, and general ledger transactions to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
- Facilitate regular accounting team meetings, helping drive accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee project-based accounting activities, including cost tracking, financial analysis, and work-in-progress reporting.
- Support billing, collections, retainage tracking, and other operational accounting processes related to long-term projects.
- Coordinate payroll-related reporting and assist with federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements.
- Prepare year-end financial statements and collaborate with external auditors and accounting partners during annual reviews.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives by analyzing trends and providing actionable insights.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies while identifying opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Experience with project-based or construction accounting environments preferred.
- Knowledge of ERP systems; experience with construction-focused software platforms is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong financial analysis capabilities.
